According to various studies in America, women are equally capable of becoming influential leaders as men. They have equal abilities to dominate a boardroom meeting and shine bright with their personality. Women are considered to be more intelligent and calm in stressful situations. They are said to be more empathetic and organized leaders compared to men. However, there are still many companies that give preference to men for leadership roles.
Despite the numerous capabilities women have, there are still very few women found being promoted to leadership roles. This can be because women take more time to maintain a stable work-life balance than men. God has given women the privilege of childbirth and it comes with greater responsibility which at times, causes hindrance in their professional careers. However, by default men take less time to maintain the right work-life balance required for leadership roles.
Making sure the work gets done
When it comes to getting the task done, both men and women have the same abilities to get the work done from the employees. In fact, women are better at getting the work done on time from their employees. They are keener on working ethically, providing equal pay and reimbursements and offering mentorship to young employees. One reason of this is that they have been through discrimination at some point in their lives and when they are given authority, they make sure to give equal rights to their team mates. Women however, are not willing to take more risks and men are more comfortable with taking risk for the business. This may vary from person to person but this is the general phenomena observed in the business world by various surveys.
Women are leaders in the 21st century
Today, women have doubled the voting rights and seats in the parliament then they had 20 years ago. They have doubled better opportunities than they had in the last 20 years. This shows how we have evolved over time as a nation keeping aside discrimination based on gender.
The channel for female leaders has been widening over time. Women all over the world have gained significant achievements in all areas. They have proved themselves in sports, education, entrepreneurship, business world, etc. There are now more females enrolled in schools, colleges, and universities than they were 20 years ago. In fact, women are more likely to complete their education than men.
Challenges faced by female leaders
Generally, there are more men in a business room, which gives women the chance to stand out and outshine them. However, certain stereotypes remain, and we, as a society, are eliminating them every day.
Having a family to look after and a full-time job is quite stressing for women. Especially when there are small kids at home. If the right work-life balance is not maintained, the stress can lead to disturbing the mental health.
Women are perceived to be more emotional and less decisive as men in many situations. They are also believed to be hesitant of taking bigger risks for the company’s long-term success.
However, we need this stigma to change because there are capable women out there waiting for their golden opportunity. Women leaders will definitely paint the future very bright if given the right freedom to exercise their authority in power.
They are equally capable of enhancing teamwork and give innovative ideas to improve the company’s game. A diversified work force can produce effective returns for the company and hence women leaders will bring new perspectives to the leadership roles.
Women leaders provide amazing mentorship to its young staff and motivate them to be the best version of themselves. Women in their life multitask from a very young age and their ability to wear various hats benefit them tremendously in their workstations also.
Taking no importance away from men, women are equally capable for all sorts of leadership roles as they possess the same capabilities and skills as any male leader would have.
